Event | 01 June 2023 3:30 PM Central Standard Time
Baker McKenzie, in partnership with Accenture LLP, invites in-house corporate legal teams and interested business stakeholders to join us in person on Thursday, June 1, to discuss how various legal departments are addressing AI and how companies are managing these challenges and risks.
Background
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to change how business is done. While in many areas the use of AI and data driven technology or solutions has already found its way into the daily business of corporations across all industries, this trend will scale up even more in the near future. In particular, this applies where the digital transformation “demands” a rapid change of the business and business models for multinational corporations to stay on top of their game. Corporate legal departments are preparing themselves for a change in the regulatory landscape as legislators globally seek to set guardrails for the use of AI. At the same time, this increased use of and reliance on AI and data makes companies increasingly vulnerable as targets of cyber criminals. In addition, legislators globally move towards regulating the use, access and sharing of data between market players.
Agenda
The program will begin with a keynote address from Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. (former Manhattan District Attorney and Global Chair of Baker McKenzie’s Cybersecurity Practice) who will share his insights on the importance of data and protection of data in an environment with constantly evolving cyber threat factors.
Following the keynote, two panel discussions will feature senior corporate leaders in privacy and technology as well as Baker McKenzie practitioners from the US and Europe. The panel dialogue will provide an update on:
- the latest data governance issues facing global companies (including Generative AI models),
- how to navigate both the use of AI and new technology,
- how to practically tackle compliance with the (upcoming) regulations globally, and
- how to appropriately guard against evolving threat factors.
Prior to each panel, we will show a short video message from our colleagues in Asia Pacific and Latin America to share current developments in each region related to AI and regulated data and how new guidance will play a part in the legal department’s compliance process.
The afternoon program will conclude with a peer networking reception overlooking Lake Michigan and Chicago’s Millennium Park.
We hope you and / or your team members are able to join us!
