Across the globe, tax is at the top of the agenda in newsrooms and boardrooms alike, owing to a marked rise in the number of cases being contested. New research Baker McKenzie recently conducted shows that the amount of tax globally under dispute is so large that it wipes out more than half of the profit growth of the Fortune 500. With tax disputes predicted to continue rising in the coming years, how can corporate taxpayers best prepare to effectively manage the load?

Save the date to join Baker McKenzie practitioners from around the world for a review of this complex scenario at our annual Global Tax Disputes Forum. This one-day forum will take place in Milan on Thursday 7 February 2019. Starting from the findings of our research, we will explore what these findings mean for taxpayers, provide the latest updates regarding the developing trends of global tax disputes, discuss strategies and best practices for managing audits in multiple jurisdictions, and identify available dispute resolution options taking into account the continuous exchange of information among tax authorities. Our analysis will also cover potential criminal ramifications for corporations and their directors.

Italy has been chosen as the location, since historically it is a country with high concentration of tax disputes for multinational entities.

In the coming weeks, we will send you the official conference invitation, with details on the agenda, how to register and how to arrange one-to-one meetings with our practitioners. In the meantime, please save the date.

Who should attend

The conference will be of interest to legal and tax professionals who deal with tax disputes and planning at a local, regional, or global level, including potential criminal ramifications.

One-to-one meetings

Our practitioners will be available for one-to-one meetings the day before the conference, on Wednesday 6 February 2019, to discuss specific issues you may have. Please let us know in advance if you wish to set up a personal appointment as the number of meetings will be limited.

Attendance at this event is free of charge.

We hope you will be able to join us in Milan!

Best regards,

Baker McKenzie Global Tax Dispute Resolution Group
