In view of the sanitary crisis arising from the global spread of COVID-19, the Argentine Ministry of Productive Development issued Disposition No. 5/2020 (Disposition) simplifying the import clearance process of certain critical sanitary supplies. Such supplies are deemed necessary for healthcare professionals and the general public in the fight against the virus.

In practice, the Disposition determines that certain tariff codes that were subject to Non Automatic Import Licenses (such as: disinfectants, cleaning and hygiene articles, chemical products, among others), will now be subject to Automatic Import Licenses. In practice, this will reduce import clearance timing in the hope of preventing shortages.
