Global: Beyond COVID-19: Supply Chain Resilience Holds Key to Recovery

Alyssa is Baker McKenzie's Chief Sustainability Officer. In this role, Alyssa is responsible for the Firm’s multi-practice sustainability client offering as well as for overseeing the Firm's internal sustainability program, goals and reporting, working closely with other Firm functions that are key to the Firm’s sustainability efforts. She maintains the Firm's relationships with global policy-shaping forums such as the World Economic Forum, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the UN, with a keen focus on engaging the businesses community on sustainability issues, and promoting collaboration, such as through the Firm’s patronage of the Action Platform for Peace Justice and Strong Institutions (Goal 16), working with clients and like-minded businesses to encourage deeper corporate engagement on Goal 16.
Alyssa brings to the role of Chief Sustainability Officer strong client relationships and deep industry knowledge, thanks to her most recent role as Global Chair of the Firm's Consumer Goods & Retail (CG&R) Industry Group and her practice as an M&A lawyer, dual-admitted in the United States and France, advising French, American and multinationals and private equity funds on their acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, partnerships and strategic alliances worldwide, as well as on their international expansion. With nearly 30 years of transactional experience, Alyssa was a partner in the Paris office of Baker McKenzie for 15 years, ran the Paris office M&A practice through 2012 and was a member of the Firm’s EMEA M&A Steering Committee.
In her CG&R industry role, Alyssa organized numerous initiatives, seminars, roundtables and conferences with global industry experts, including several focused on sustainability given its importance to the industry. She created a Baker McKenzie podcast series, Off the Shelf, to provide short, practical tips and legal advice to CG&R companies, is ranked by Legal 500 as a “Leading Individual” in the luxury goods sector and participated in the Vogue Business Brand Index as a member of its Advisory Board. She has been interviewed by several leading industry publications on topics of relevance to the industry, including sustainability.
Alyssa is based in Paris, France, is a Franco-American dual national and speaks French and English fluently.

Debra A. Dandeneau is chair of Baker McKenzie's Global Restructuring and Insolvency Group. Her practice focuses on business reorganizations and debtor and creditors’ rights. Debra has been ranked by The Best Lawyers in America 2011-2022 in the practice areas of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law, and Litigation-Bankruptcy. She has also been recognized by Legal 500 US for Municipal Bankruptcy and Super Lawyers 2006-2021 for Bankruptcy. Super Lawyers also named Debra among the Top Women Attorneys for Bankruptcy Business in New York 2017. Debra regularly speaks on restructuring issues and is frequently quoted in the media. Martin David is a principal in the Finance and Projects Practice Group at Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow and heads the Projects practice in Asia Pacific and Singapore. He is a former civil engineer and has market-leading experience in relation to greenfield IPPs in Asia, particularly in the renewables sector (wind and geothermal).

Michael F. DeFranco currently serves as Chair of the Firm's Global M&A Practice Group. He advises clients on transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance, corporate governance issues and disclosure concerns. His extensive experience includes representing multinational companies in both public and private acquisitions and divestitures.

Susan Eandi is the Chair of Baker McKenzie's North America Employment and Compensation Practice Group, head of the Global Employment and Labor Law Practice for North America, and a member of the North America Regional Management Council. She also serves on the Firm's Antiracism Legal Impact Board. Susan speaks regularly for organizations including ACC, Tech GC, Silicon Valley AGC and World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Susan publishes extensively in various external legal publications in addition to handbooks/magazines published by the Firm. Susan is a recognized leader in employment law by International Employment Lawyer, The Daily Journal, Legal 500 PLC and is a Chambers-ranked attorney.

Stanley Jia is the chief representative of the Beijing office of Baker McKenzie. He has extensive experience working on foreign indirect investment projects in China, particularly those involving the energy, oil & gas and automotive sectors. Mr. Jia is ranked among the leading lawyers for corporate/ M&A in China by Chambers Asia Pacific, Chambers Global and Legal 500 Asia Pacific. He is also listed among the top lawyers for projects and energy in Legal 500 Asia Pacific, and for project finance in IFLR 1000.

Adam Farlow heads the Firm's Capital Markets practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is a New York and English qualified partner based in London. He has extensive experience in US securities laws and transaction management. He has been elected as a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and serves on the Council of the American Bar Association Section of International Law.

Mattias Hedwall heads Baker Mckenzie's Global International Commercial & Trade Group and supervises the International Commercial & Trade Group in Stockholm. He joined Baker McKenzie in 1996 and has more than two decades of legal experience. Mattias has for many years been on the Stockholm office’s board of directors and is currently the chairman of the board. Mattias has authored a number of articles on Swedish and International Business and Commercial law, and has published a handbook on commercial contracts. He gives presentations and trainings on focus areas where he is experienced. Mattias supervises the Baker McKenzie co-operation with Stockholm School of Economics (Sw. Handelshögskolan).

Manuel Padrón-Castillo has been practicing with Baker McKenzie since 1992. He is the National Coordinator of the Foreign Trade and Customs Practice Group in Mexico, the Firm's Latin American Regional Coordinator of the International Commercial & Trade Practice Group, and member of the Steering Committee for the Global Automotive Industry Group. During his professional practice, Mr. Padron-Castillo has extensive experience in the manufacturing “maquiladora” industry in all matters associated to their business planning and compliance. He concentrated his practice in the representation of foreign investors doing business in Mexico.

Nandakumar (Kumar) Ponniya heads the Dispute Resolution Practice of Baker & McKenzie in the Asia-Pacific.
Kumar is listed as a leading international arbitration lawyer in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2021 and was also named a Litigation Star in the Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific 2020. Chambers Asia Pacific 2021 quotes “the ‘well respected’ Nandakumar Ponniya for having led commercial and investment arbitrations and notes that he is especially recognised for his focus on construction and contractual issues. Kumar is a member of the Expert Panel of the Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia (CEBCLA) and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He serves on statutory tribunals such as the Income Tax Review Board and the Law Society’s Inquiry Panel. In addition, Kumar also serves as an adjunct assistant professor at the National University of Singapore and the Singapore Management University, where he conducts the International Projects Practice and Law as well as the International Construction Law course.

Jennifer Trock is chair of Baker McKenzie's Global Aviation Group and North America International Commercial Practice Group. She leads the Firm's unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) focus team and is a member of the Firm's Future Mobility Taskforce. She is the immediate past chair of the ABA's Forum on Air & Space Law. Jennifer has been recognized by Chambers USA, Aviation Regulatory – National (2007-2022) and has received honors from Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers, Infrastructure Journal and The Washingtonian.
