On this 60-minute webinar, Baker McKenzie experts from the United States, Mexico and Canada discuss how to prepare for enforcement under the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRLM). The discussion covers how RRLM originated and how it will function, what it means for manufcturers in Mexico, and what sort of due diligence should be undertaken as we approach July 1 entry into force of the USMCA, among other topics.

Paul obtained his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario. Adriana has over twenty years of experience in customs and foreign trade matters. She joined Baker McKenzie in 2001, became National Partner in 2005 and a Principal in 2018. She has prior experience working as legal director of Rules of Origin, Customs Procedures and Safeguards in the Mexican Ministry of Economy where she participated in the negotiation of several free trade agreements (FTAs) and in the first dispute settlement resolution cases initiated by Mexico against the US under the NAFTA. Adriana has been ranked a leading practitioner by Chambers and Partners at Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America as well as Legal 500 for ten consecutive years. She was an associate in our Guadalajara and Washington, D.C. offices and currently Heads the Firm’s North America International Commercial Practice Group in Mexico City.

Salvador Pasquel Villegas joined Baker McKenzie in 1994 and became a partner in the Firm’s Mexico office in 2002. He is a member of the North America Employment and Compensation Practice Group and chair of the Mexico City Labor Practice. He has extensive experience advising on collective bargaining, employment counseling in corporate restructures, labor policy planning related to acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, plant closings, redundancies, executive compensation and employee benefits, as well as investigation procedures, labor compliance, diversity and inclusion programs, and flexible working conditions. Salvador has also represented Mexican employers before the International Labor Organization (ILO) in 2003 and 2010.

Kevin has assisted clients with understanding, complying and responding to the issues of Business and Human Rights including engagement with and complaints under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Employers, ILO Freedom of Association Committee, ILO Application of International Labour Standards Committee of Experts, the North American Free Trade Agreement Labour Provisions, the UN Guiding Principles, various Modern Slavery Laws and other emerging international human rights guidelines, laws, norms and standards. He is a trusted advisor and has guided companies to align their enterprise risk management systems with human and labour rights risks, and assisted with union corporate campaigns and tactics. That recognition has resulted in him being retained as an expert on corporate social responsibility, international labour standards and global labour relations.
